TWG November Meeting
Show & Tell ...
Doug Magrath shows us how to core a set of nesting bowls.
Dave stating the meeting
Michael with new members
Doug Magrath shows us a bowl he made that will go into tonights draw
Attaching the wood making sure to keep everything even. Doug starts with the outside of the bowl, working from the center out to the rim
.
Now we turn the bowl blank around and make sure that everything is even and level.
Here we get ready to core the first bowl (core the smallest bowl first) and cut in slowly, removing shavings so allow space for blade
hummm....that's how it's done...
Now we core the second bowl, again cutting slowly, removing shavings so allow space for blade
Doug makes it look so easy....
With the Vacuum chuck on, we can now clean up the outside of the bowl
Now we clean up the inside. Doug also likes to use a curved rest when making bowls
TWG Members.... Now we all core and turn just like Doug..... Well maybe with a LOT of practice. But that's why we are all here
We love to have visitors come to see our club
Drawing tonights winners
Winner of Doug Magrath's bowl
Wonder if I could make a Stanley Cup for the leafs out of this?
Tonight's Show and Tell featured "First" turned pieces
Can anyone tell me why the bowl is flat on the bottom, but warped on the top... "Maybe it was caused by using your mind to warp it like in the MATRIX" ha ha ha
So this was my first bowl. I turned it during a lesson at Lee Valley, and I still use the bowl in my kitchen today
It might be the only cup they will have for quite a while. "Just kidding" TWG Loves the Leafs
